Transition Year Boxing and Fitness Week

How does this week work?

This week is designed to cater for all fitness levels and abilities. The aim of this course is to introduce transition years to the sport of boxing and teach them the fundamental techniques required in order to be able to defend themselves. The most important thing for us down at the Headon Boxing Academy is ensuring that all students have a fun and enjoyable week and broaden their horizons by being introduced to a fascinating sport.

Throughout this week we also bring in a number of different people to speak to the students. These speakers largely focus on the topic of mindset – how to identify danger, how to avoid it, and how to be successful in their given field of work. These speakers include

  • Jamie Headon – Ireland’s #1 Crossfit Athlete
  • Cian Cowley – Muay Thai and MMA Star
  • Paddy Holohan – Former UFC Fighter, businessman and mental health activist
  • Tony Browne – Irish International Boxer
  • Paul Kane – Garda Detective

Throughout this week Jamie Headon also takes the students for an hour each day. Jamie has years of experience in the fitness industry both as a coach and as an athlete. Jamie helps the students understand how to design a correct gym program, offers advice on nutrition and teaches them the correct way to perform certain exercises in the gym.
