Charity Boxing Fundraiser

On Tuesday the 18th of October, twenty-eight brave men and women enter the boxing ring for their maiden bouts. As always the objective of these events is to raise as much money as possible for a worthy cause. This particular event is in memory of both Órla Quill and Ana Hick, and all funds raised will go directly to The Mater Intensive Care Unit who looked after both of these courageous women.

Órla spent six years in cluny and was in her first year of culinary arts in DIT. She loved her family; her Mom and Dad, Eilleen and Fintan, and was devoted to her two little sisters, Siobhan and Roisin as well as her dog Frodo.

The Mater Hospital’s critical care service includes the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the High Dependency Unit (HDU). They are one of Ireland’s leading intensive care services, providing treatment to approximately 2,800 patients each year. Their critical care service is run by a highly specialised multidisciplinary team which includes consultants and other senior doctors, nursing staff, physiotherapists, dieticians, pharmacists and much more.

Ana had a passion for acting and was going to the Gaeity School of Acting after she finished up 6 years in Loreto Abbey Dalkey.

The aim of this event is to raise as much money as possible for the Mater Intensive Care Unit which plays a massive role in the lives of so many people. The Mater ICU did so much for both Ana and Órla’s families and the organiser of this event Rebecca FitzGerald O’Neill has made it clear from the start that

This event is to say thank you to the doctors and staff of the ICU unit and the A&E unit.
